the story of Caroline Biss started in Lebbeke, in 1963. Celeste De Hauwere founded a sewing workshop there, and provided work for a significant part of the local female population. Up to the 1980s the company worked for the textile industry. When De Hauwere found that a total look was the future in fashion, she created her own brand: Caroline, a name that changed into "Caroline Biss" shortly after that. In 2000 Ann-Christine Bouckaert and her husband Bart Saelen took over the company from her parents. Since then, Saelen, an economist, is in charge of the commercial and financial strategy, and his wife leads the creative team.
